"This is my colorized tribute to Photographer Alan Earman and his amazing 'back-lit' photo of the fabled Chi-Town Hustler (at Carlsbad circa 1969). The image is in a class by itself for three reasons: (1) The sun's accentuation of the tire smoke billowing from behind the car and the rear wheel openings. (2) The smoke being blown to the sides by the 'weed-burner' headers, and (3) the other-worldly silhouettes of the fans - caught up in the smoke and obviously caught off guard and stunned by the ear-shattering sound and fury of the 'baddest' funny car of all time!" -Kenny Youngblood

About Kenny Youngblood
It was 1960; Kenny Youngblood was fifteen years old, sitting at the kitchen table and drawing his favorite subject: “slingshot” fuel dragsters. His mom walked by and said, “Someday you’ll get paid for doing that”. “At the time”, recalls Youngblood, “I thought that was crazy; who would ever pay someone to draw dragsters?” If you’re into motor sports, you’ve probably heard his name; if you’re not, you’ve probably seen his work. Youngblood is not only the most prolific artist in the field of motorsports art, but also it’s most significant pioneer. Kenny’s amazing career grew out of his own need for speed. “I’m a racer at heart” says Youngblood, who, in the 1960’s, built and drove two “slingshot” fuel dragsters of his own.
