Taken in the driveway of my parents house in Rosemead California, The Youngblood & Smith "Vagrant" was my first dragster. The 354 inch Chrysler was equipped with Hilborn injectors and ran on straight nitro. My partner Fred Smith behind car and crewman Bill Keller on the right. Circa 1966
It was 1960; Kenny Youngblood was fifteen years old, sitting at the kitchen table and drawing his favorite subject: “slingshot” fuel dragsters. His mom walked by and said, “Someday you’ll get paid for doing that”. “At the time”, recalls Youngblood, “I thought that was crazy; who would ever pay someone to draw dragsters?” If you’re into motor sports, you’ve probably heard his name; if you’re not, you’ve probably seen his work. Youngblood is not only the most prolific artist in the field of motorsports art, but also it’s most significant pioneer.
